Webinar Series
Cannabis and Economic Development Webinar
Jan. 12, 2023
PowerPoint Slides | Webinar Recording

California voters continue to signal their strong approval for licensed cannabis business operations in their communities. This past election, voters across the state approved 23 of the 27 local cannabis revenue related ballot measures put before them. With 91% of Americans approving of cannabis legalization in some form, it should be no surprise that many California cities want both the economic development and tax revenues that come with licensed cannabis businesses.

Join us for a discussion on the benefits and best practices of opening your city up to licensed cannabis and resources that can help make it happen. Culture Cannabis Club’s Devon Julian and Barigye McCoy will be joined by preeminent local government and cannabis lobbyist (and former Cal Cities staffer) Amy O’Gorman Jenkins, to talk about how local governments are spurring new economic development and building their tax base with licensed cannabis. Amy will also brief participants on available state grant funding opportunities and highlight legislation being considered for the year ahead.

Moderators:
Bismarck Obando, Director of Public Affairs, League of California Cities
Mike Egan, Senior Manager, Sponsorship and Corporate Development, League of California Cities

Presenters:
Devon Julian, Chief Executive Officer, Culture Cannabis Club
Barigye McCoy, Chief of Communication, Culture Cannabis Club
Amy O'Gorman-Jenkins, President, Precision Advocacy
Chris Rogers, Councilmember, City of Santa Rosa
