Pave the way for success at the Public Works Officers Institute

The Public Works Officers Institute is open for registration through Feb. 28

Creative solutions to California’s biggest infrastructure challenges are often developed at the local level by public works officers. The League of California Cities helps public works officers meet these challenge head-on by providing training and information through conferences like the Public Works Officers Institute.

Scheduled for March 8-10 in Universal City, the Institute is designed for public works professionals at all career levels and provides them with the information needed to more effectively run public works departments. The conference is held jointly with the County Engineers Association of California.

This year’s sessions cover a variety of topics, including public construction and contracting laws, sustainable water supplies, pavement management, recycling changes, extreme hazards, and major grant opportunities. Registration and hotel information 

Registration for the full conference starts at $625 for city officials from any Cal Cities member city. Registration includes admission to all educational sessions, the Wednesday reception, Thursday breakfast and lunch, Friday breakfast, and access to all program materials. The deadline to register online is Tuesday, Feb. 28. After that, officials must register on-site. 

Capacity for this event is limited and conferences often sell out before the registration deadline.

The Public Works Officers Institute will be held at the Hilton Universal City Hotel in Universal City. The hotel is centrally located between Burbank, downtown Los Angeles, and Hollywood, with easy access to airports and freeways.

A limited number of hotel rooms are available at a reduced rate for conference attendees that register before Tuesday, Feb. 14. Discounted hotel rooms often sell out early, so advance registration is encouraged.
