Aug 25, 2021

Join the League of California Cities and local officials from across the state in Sacramento, from September 22-24, for three days of learning, collaboration, and celebration.

The League of California Cities Annual Conference and Expo will bring together more than 1,500 local leaders for education and perspective-sharing on challenging, city-specific issues and provide opportunities for officials to deepen relationships with others in similar fields. One of the conference’s key highlights is its breakout sessions.

Breakout sessions cover a wide variety of topics, including pension updates, equity and justice, how to support residents experiencing homelessness, and the role local leaders play in planning California's future. The conference also includes sessions by Cal Cities diversity caucuses: the African American Caucus, the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Caucus, the Latino Caucus, and the Women's Caucus.

Sessions deliver insight about some of the state’s most innovative, local-first strategies, provide access to practical resources, and allow local officials to connect with statewide leaders, such as CalPERS’ Chief Executive Officer Marcie Frost. For example, attendees can learn how cities in Marin County changed their approach to wildfires, what to include in a cybersecurity incident plan, the role data can play in providing public services, and how to attract the next generation of public servants with virtual career exploration.

For more information about individual sessions, including session descriptions, dates, and times, visit the Annual Conference and Expo page. While there, note the times of the Department, Caucus, and Cal Cities business meetings. Then, start a list of all the sessions and activities that interest you to create your own schedule.

Health and Safety Update

COVID-19 remains a top concern for Cal Cities and its partners. In accordance with city, county, state, and federal requirements and recommendations, Cal Cities has created a plan designed to keep all participants healthy, safe, and comfortable. The plan includes measures such as vaccination or negative test requirements, onsite COVID-19 testing, preventative HVAC maintenance, increased room for social distancing, and more.

Conference registration is required to attend all activities and attendees must wear a badge at all times. Due to health and safety protocols, this requirement will be strictly enforced. Please allow extra time to pick up your conference badge at the Convention Center prior to arrival at your first event. Guest registrations are available for the Expo and receptions.
