Young Elected Officials
The Young Elected Officials Member Group brings together emerging city leaders from across California to connect, collaborate, and help shape the future of local government. Through advocacy, networking, mentorship, and professional development opportunities, the group empowers the next generation of local officials to build strong communities, develop effective leadership skills, and address the evolving challenges facing cities across the state.

- Dedicated and Ongoing Space: Establish a consistent forum for Young Elected Officials to share ideas, discuss policy issues, and elevate their perspectives within Cal Cities.
- Engagement with Cal Cities: Encourage participation in Cal Cities' governance and programs, including policy committees, divisions, departments, advisory committees, and education and networking events. Increased involvement will help empower Young Elected Officials to contribute to decision-making and serve as informed voices within the organization.
- Networking and Peer Support: Provide opportunities for virtual and in-person peer-to-peer connection, allowing Young Elected Officials to build relationships, exchange ideas, and learn from shared experiences.
- Intergenerational Perspective: Foster dialogue om how changing policy and political environments affect younger elected officials and explore how current decisions and inherited policy discussions will impact future generations.
- Professional Development and Leadership Growth: Encourage members to submit education session proposals for conferences that build leadership skills, share innovative practices, and expand knowledge on issues facing California cities.
