Thank you for visiting the League of California Cities (“Cal Cities,” “we,” or “our”) website (“Site”) and for reviewing our privacy policy. Your privacy is very important to us and our Site has been developed with that in mind. We recognize your right to know what information is being collected about you and how that information will be used, as well as our legal obligations to limit collection and protect the information we obtain. The League of California Cities is a California nonprofit corporation that provides education and advocacy services for and on behalf of California cities. The organization’s membership consists of most cities in the State, represented by public officials who work together through Cal Cities to enhance their professional knowledge and skills, exchange information about municipal issues, and combine resources to better serve and advocate on behalf of their cities. Cal Cities operates for purely professional purposes, and any personal information provided by an individual to Cal Cities for personal purposes is not shared with third parties for direct marketing purposes. By using this site or providing to us your personal information through email, you consent to the collection and use of personal information as stated in this Policy.

Information that You Provide Voluntarily

The League of California Cities collects personally identifiable information including, but not limited to, first and last name, physical address, email address, telephone number, credit/debit card numbers, or other identifiers that permit the physical or online contacting of an individual, only if specifically and knowingly provided by you. You do not have to give Cal Cities personal information to visit the Site.

The personally identifiable information you provide through the Site may be used to:

  • Respond to your email inquiry;
  • Provide the services or products you request;
  • Deliver the services or products you purchase or order on the Site;
  • Forward your email inquiry to the appropriate person or entity for response or assistance; or
  • Notify you of issues or information in subject areas or matters you have expressed interest in or concern about.
 

Information Shared with Third Parties

In order to further its mission, League of California Cities may share personally identifiable information you provide through the Site with Cal Cities vendors administering programs that benefit cities or with national organizations that represent cities’ interests. These third parties will not use the personally identifiable information that Cal Cities shares with them for direct marketing purposes.

Data Retention

  • The information you provide may also be collected for the League of California Cities' statistical purposes, including to perform analyses of user behavior to measure customer interest in the various areas of, or particular pages on, the Site. Cal Cities does not include personally identifiable information in disclosing any consumer information in aggregate form for analysis.
  • If Cal Cities is merely responding to your electronic inquiry, the personally identifiable information you provided for Cal Cities to do so will not be maintained.
  • The League of California Cities uses cookies. A cookie is a small file created by your Web browser to assign a unique identification to your computer. Cal Cities uses the cookie to track your clicks as you browse and move between pages on the Site. We do not use cookies to retrieve personal information about you from your computer. Electronic Mail Precautions

Remember that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. Some of our Site pages allow you to purchase products or services, or to request information electronically. Online Surveys

From time to time, the League of California Cities may conduct online surveys that ask you for demographic data. Cal Cities or its agents may also contact you by telephone with the option to participate in other member research studies. Participation in any survey or other consumer research is always voluntary. Cal Cities aggregates the responses received before using the information, to improve the information, products and services Cal Cities offers. Cal Cities does not link your individual responses to your personal information at any time.

Protecting Your Information  

The League of California Cities takes reasonable steps to secure your privacy. We have incorporated procedural, administrative, and electronic protections to safeguard your personal information. Please be aware that although we have implemented these protections, we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

Children’s Privacy

Cal Cities does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with their personal information without the consent of the parent, that information will be deleted.

Member Communications

We occasionally send mail and e-mail communications to our members to let them know about new programs, products and special offers. If you wish to discontinue receiving such communications, you may unsubscribe from receiving them at any time. Modifications or Changes to this Policy

In the event of a material change to this privacy policy, a notice will be posted on Cal Cities' homepage of the Site, as well as this page.
