MEDIA ADVISORY
Sacramento — Over 400 city officials from throughout the state will be in the state Capitol for the League of California Cities annual City Leaders Summit.
Over three days, city officials will advocate on key legislation and three city priorities in the state budget: restoring funding for the state’s flagship Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) grant program, funding to implement the voter-approved Prop. 36, and devoting funding from Cap-and-Invest for clean public fleets and organic waste diversion efforts. Cal Cities will also release new survey data highlighting how cities are responding to the homelessness crisis in their communities.
Cal Cities will also host its first-ever Cities Gubernatorial Forum. The forum will be hosted by political journalist and podcast host, KQED’s Scott Shafer. Featured candidates include: Xavier Becerra, Matt Mahan, Tony Thurmond, and Betty Yee.
The City Leaders Summit occurs during California Cities Week, a celebration to recognize the many ways that our diverse cities make life better in California. To mark the week, Assembly Member Blanca Pacheco is authoring the resolution, ACR 143, which has become an annual statewide acknowledgement of the vital role cities play in our lives and the public officials who power them.
