We want your two cents: Submit a session proposal for the 2025 Municipal Finance Institute
Session Proposals due June 30
By Cal Cities Education Staff
Cal Cities is accepting session proposals for the Municipal Finance Institute, a two-day educational and peer-learning event taking place Dec. 10–11 at the Renaissance Hotel in Palm Springs.
The institute serves as a vital forum for peer learning, professional development, and innovative thinking. The institute will bring together California municipal finance officers to discuss the biggest, evolving issues affecting cities and key areas of interest for those in the public finance industry.
Member-driven and member-led programming is at the heart of Cal Cities’ educational mission — over 95% of sessions are developed through open calls for proposals. Individuals, groups, businesses, and organizations may submit ideas for panel discussions, facilitated conversations, and keynote presentations.
What makes a standout proposal?
Cal Cities is looking for thorough, thoughtful, and non-commercial proposals that highlight how your session can help fire service leaders strengthen their communities, enhance leadership skills, and expand policy knowledge. Past topics have included:
- Developments in municipal finance law and policy
- CalPERS updates
- Ethics for fiscal officers
- Cybersecurity essentials
- California’s economic outlook
How to submit a proposal
To submit a proposal, visit the Municipal Finance Institute webpage and review the “Call for Proposals” guidance. Proposals are due online by June 30. Acceptance notices will go out in the early fall. If accepted, you’ll present your session at the institute in Palm Springs this December.
