By Cal Cities Education Staff

Motivational speaker Milo Shapiro is this year’s City Clerks New Law and Elections Seminar keynote speaker. A former software developer, project manager, and current improv professional, Shapiro will teach city clerks how to become more prepared, polished, and powerful speakers.

The seminar helps city clerks of all tenures respond to emerging challenges and conduct routine business. The 2024 seminar will cover a range of topics, including public records requests, council member onboarding, new election laws, and how to respond to hate speech and disruptions in council meetings.

On Thursday morning, Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., will join attendees for a fireside chat. A former assembly member and professor, Weber has fought to secure and expand civil rights for all Californians.
