Essential Hour: Your First ‘Disastrous’ Hour

It’s 3:00 a.m. and the city manager is on the phone in a panic: The city is on fire. Emergency personnel, residents, and councilmembers are inundating her with requests and demands. No one can even get to city hall and she’s looking to you for advice. The actions and decisions that you make in the next minutes, hours, and days may drastically impact the city and its residents. 

Join us for an Essential Hour that will truly prove essential if you ever get this phone call. The laws and requirements that apply in an emergency are not intuitive, vary greatly from those that apply outside an emergency, and are rarely used by most city attorneys. This hour will give you tools and resources to tap if you find yourself in this situation, and let you know some of the issues you can expect to encounter.  

The League of California Cities is a State Bar of California minimum continuing legal education (MCLE) approved provider. Cal Cities certified that this webinar meets the standards for participatory MCLE credit for registered attendees in the amount of one hour. Participatory MCLE credit is only available to those registered to participate in the live webinar. Cal Cities is unable to provide credit to those who choose to view the webinar recording.
