Public Works Officers Institute open for registration through March 16

Jan 5, 2022

The League of California Cities has returned to partial, in-person programming after more than a year of virtual learning and meetings. Scheduled for March 23-25 in Monterey, the Public Works Officers Institute is designed for public works professionals of all career levels and provides them with the information and updates needed to run city and county public works departments more effectively.

This year, attendees will learn about a myriad of technical topics, including stormwater resources, infrastructure project materials, and how to manage electrical grid outages. Attendees will also learn how to better engage and build bridges with diverse constituencies, strengthen their political acumen, and widen their leadership knowledge to guide their teams to success. Visit the conference webpage for the full schedule.

Registration and hotel information

Registration for the full conference starts at $625 for city officials from any Cal Cities member city. Conference registration includes admission to all educational sessions, the Wednesday reception, Thursday breakfast and lunch, Friday breakfast, and access to all program materials. The deadline to register is March 16, after which officials must register on-site.

The Public Works Officers Institute will be held at the Portola Hotel, located at Two Portola Plaza in Monterey, California. The Portola is in the downtown area of Monterey and is five minutes away from the Monterey Regional Airport. A limited number of hotel rooms are available at a reduced rate for conference attendees that register before March 1. Discounted hotel rooms often sell out early, so advance registration is encouraged.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to change, and our number one priority will continue to be the health and safety participants. More information about our new health and safety protocols — which are subject to change — is available on the event and meeting policies section of the Cal Cities website.

The Public Works Officers Institute is held jointly with the County Engineers Association of California. For more information, visit the Public Works Officers Institute webpage. Direct all questions or comments to Megan Dunn.
