Help steer Cal Cities coastal zone policy by leading the Coastal Cities Group

Sep 1, 2021

The Coastal Cities Group collaborates on sea level rise mitigation efforts, land use regulations, and other issues that impact coastal cities. The deadline to apply is September 20, 2021.

The League of California Cities is accepting leadership committee applications for the Coastal Cities Group through September 20, 2021. Composed of the 61 cities located within the coastal zone, the Coastal Cities Group collaborates on sea level rise mitigation efforts, land use regulations, and works to foster a more collaborative relationship between cities and the California Coastal Commission. It also serves as a conduit for related information and works closely with Cal Cities’ policy committees and board of directors.

Applicants will be reviewed on their leadership skills, policy awareness, expertise on coastal issues, and experience within Cal Cities. Applications must be submitted online.

The chair and vice chair positions are drawn from the group’s leadership committee, which consists of one elected official and their respective city manager or staff designee from each of the six regions within the coastal zone. The leadership committee helps facilitate the Coastal Cities Group’s operations and plays a key role in its activities, including building and maintaining relationships with California Coastal Commissioners and staff.
