League of California Cities members to consider two general resolutions during Annual Conference and Expo

Aug 18, 2021

The 2021 Annual Conference Resolutions Packet is now available online.

The League of California Cities Annual Business Meeting, during Annual Conference and Expo, is the place Cal Cities membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish Cal Cities policy. Voting delegates this year will take action on two general resolutions, which are available to review in advance on the Cal Cities website in the Annual Conference Resolutions Packet.

The resolutions packet includes background information about each resolution, letters of support, the resolution itself, a staff analysis, and a brief overview of the resolutions process. City-appointed voting delegates who make up the General Assembly will convene at the Annual Business Meeting and take action on the resolutions on Friday, September 24 at 12:30 p.m. at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento.

In order for cities to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, a city council must have a designated voting delegate. Each city may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates, one of whom may vote in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity. Cities should complete and submit the voting delegate and alternate form by Wednesday, September 15, to Darla Yacub.

Proposed changes to the Cal Cities bylaws will also be considered by the General Assembly. Proposals to change the bylaws follow a different process and timeline than general resolutions. Cities can expect to receive more information on the proposed bylaws changes for consideration no later than September 10.

Additional information about the general resolution process can be found online. Questions concerning the resolutions process should be directed to Meg Desmond.
