Registration now open for City Leaders Summit. Make your voice heard!

Mar 9, 2022

Scheduled for May 11-13, the City Leaders Summit is a brand-new League of California Cities event where city officials can influence state policy decisions and gain top-notch leadership skills. This event offers city officials opportunities to meet with state lawmakers to advocate for cities’ top priorities, as well as participate in peer-to-peer discussions and in-depth educational sessions.

The City Leaders Summit transforms two of Cal Cities’ most prominent events — Legislative Action Day and Mayors and Council Members Executive Forum — into one reimagined opportunity for city officials to grow as leaders and ensure their city’s voice is heard at the Capitol.

Advocacy and education sessions

The City Leaders Summit begins on May 11 with a full day of legislative advocacy. Cal Cities’ legislative team will kick off the summit with updates on the most important topics to discuss when meeting lawmakers. City leaders can also attend legislative-focused education sessions at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center and an evening reception hosted by Cal Cities League Partners.

Thursday and Friday’s educational sessions will cover need-to-know information on topics such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, workforce retention and culture, communication and collaboration strategies, the future of economic development, land use, zoning, and intergenerational relationships.  Each day also features an impressive keynote speaker.

Additional information is available in the “program at a glance” section of the City Leaders Summit webpage.

Registration and hotel information

Registration for all three days starts at $625 for city officials from any Cal Cities member city. Summit registration includes admission to all educational sessions, the Wednesday reception, Thursday breakfast and lunch, Friday breakfast, and access to all program materials. The deadline to register is April 29, after which officials must register on-site.

The City Leaders Summit will be held at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, located in the heart of downtown Sacramento and across from the Capitol. The SAFE Credit Union Convention Center is just fifteen minutes away from Sacramento International Airport.

A limited number of hotel rooms are available at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento at a reduced rate for conference attendees that register before April 19. Discounted hotel rooms often sell out early, so advance registration is encouraged.

More information about hotel and travel can be found within the “hotel and travel” section of the City Leaders Summit webpage.

Health and safety

In accordance with city, county, state, and federal requirements and recommendations, Cal Cities is committed to planning events designed to keep all participants healthy, safe, and comfortable. Attendees are urged to follow federal and state recommendations, which strongly encourage wearing masks for indoor events.
