Nearly 40 breakouts sessions announced for this year’s Annual Conference and Expo

Jul 28, 2021

The League of California Cities Annual Conference and Expo is shaping up to be a can’t miss educational and networking event, filled with dynamic panel discussions, keynotes, breakout sessions, and opportunities for city leaders to connect directly with their peers.

Taking place September 22 – 24 in Sacramento, this year’s conference will also offer over 40 breakout sessions.

Breakout sessions cover a wide variety of topics, including pension updates, equity and justice, the ever-evolving conversation on homelessness, and the role local leaders play in planning California's future. The conference also includes sessions by Cal Cities diversity caucuses: the African American Caucus, the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Caucus, the Latino Caucus, and the Women's Caucus.

Sessions are more than a chance to learn about best practices and innovative strategies created by local leaders. They also provide city officials with practical resources and the chance to connect with experienced leaders, such as CalPERS’ Chief Executive Officer Marcie Frost. Attendees can learn how cities in Marin County changed their approach to wildfires, what to include in a cybersecurity incident plan, the role data can play in providing public services, how to attract the next generation of public servants with virtual career exploration, and more.

For more information about the Annual Conference — including individual breakout sessions — please visit the Annual Conference and Expo page. (Be sure to note the timing of the Department, Caucus, and business meetings.) Conference registration is required to attend all conference activities, including the General Assembly. Full conference registration starts at $600 for member-city officials and the sharing of registration is prohibited.

We look forward to seeing California’s many dedicated public officials at the conference! Join us and California’s city officials as we come together to learn, collaborate, and celebrate. Register now to ensure your preferred accommodations!

Please note, sessions and speakers subject to change. For additional information, contact conference registrar Megan Dunn before Wednesday, August 25.
