Cal Cities sees record number of registrations for Annual Conference and Expo; early bird registration still available

Jul 7, 2021

The excitement for the Annual Conference and Expo is palpable, with registration for the League of California Cities’ first in-person program since the pandemic smashing previous records.

A lively, energetic event that brings together city officials from across the state in the spirit of mutual collaboration, this year saw a record 750 registrations in the 10 days following the initial announcement! That’s just under half of the event’s average, pre-pandemic attendance!

Apart from enhanced safety procedures, attendees can expect several new additions this year, including a reimagined Expo. Filled with over 100 exhibitors from across the state, the newly renovated SAFE Credit Union Convention Center expo floor will also feature Cal Cities popular “Speed Sessions.” Each 20-minute program covers a range of pressing topics such as cybersecurity, infrastructure, and “allyship,” and usually includes a brief Q&A component.

Expo attendees should also be on the lookout for booths from Cal Cities’ League Partner Program, the Institute for Local Government (ILG), Cal Cities’ five diversity caucuses, and the winners of Cal Cities’ most prestigious award: the Helen Putman Award for Excellence. Sponsored by the League Partner Program, the Helen Putman Award recognizes cities that have made unique contributions to community residents and businesses, which have resulted in lower costs or more effective delivery of services.

(Pro tip: Exhibitors will have lots of high-quality prizes to give away. Just give your business card to any booth with a star next to their name.)

The conference is less than 11 weeks away, but attendees can access the early bird registration special through July 16. Vendors can sign up as long as there is available space. However, advance registration for vendors is strongly encouraged, as it allows them to maximize their pre-conference benefits.

More information about the Annual Conference and Expo will appear in future editions of Cal Cities Advocate, including details about special events, state mandated training sessions, MCLE opportunities for city attorneys, and more. For questions, please email Megan Dunn.
