This past election, voters across the state approved 23 of the 27 local cannabis revenue related ballot measures put before them. In this Cal Cities Partner webinar, Culture Cannabis Club’s Devon Julian and Barigye McCoy joined by preeminent local government and cannabis lobbyist (and former Cal Cities staffer) Amy O’Gorman Jenkins highlighted how local governments are spurring new economic development and building their tax base with licensed cannabis.

Cal Cities Speaker Series presents: Paul Mitchell, Vice President, Political Data Inc., and Owner, Redistricting Partners

RegisterPaul Mitchell is one of California’s leading experts on election outcomes, trends, and redistricting. For the past 30 years, Mitchell and his firm have helped political campaigns, nonprofits, and others reach new voters and navigate voting laws.
Join Mitchell for the latest installment of the Cal Cities Speaker series, where he will share information about California’s post-election results and demographics. In this moderated conversation and presentation with Cal Cities Executive Director and CEO Carolyn Coleman, Mitchell will discuss how the election will impact cities in 2023 and what they need to know about redistricting now that data has been tabulated.

About the Speaker
Paul Mitchell is the owner of Redistricting Partners and vice president of Political Data Inc., where he works with campaigns, nonprofits, and universities, with a specialty in polling and survey data. Mitchell has conducted redistricting for more than 75 states, cities, school boards, and community college districts — including the State of New York Independent Redistricting Commission, the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission, and the Long Beach Independent Redistricting Commission, and others.
Mitchell also works with nonprofit organizations such as the Irvine Foundation, American Civil Liberties Union, Advancement Project, and Common Cause to build community engagement.
He has worked nationally on election and voting issues. He recently advised the State of New Mexico’s inaugural redistricting commission and the New Mexico State Ethics Commission on guidelines for commissioners and helped evaluate the final redistricting maps. In total, Mitchell and his firm have worked in more than 15 states on statewide redistricting.
Mitchell is regularly cited as an expert on elections and redistricting. He has appeared on a CNN Presents special about the decennial redistricting process, PBS News Hour’s 2022 election coverage, the FiveThirtyEight podcast series on redistricting reform, and as a regular analyst on California-based network TV election coverage.
Mitchell earned his associate degree from Orange Coast College, an undergraduate from American University, and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Southern California.

Our speakers, like our cities, have diverse perspectives and Cal Cities is excited to provide meaningful dialogue that engages, enlightens, and inspires.
Registration must be completed by noon on Feb. 14. This webinar is complimentary to Cal Cities members and Cal Cities Partners. Nonmember cities and other government entities will be charged $150. Please note that registration is limited to 1,000 people.
