Municipal Finance Institute programming moves to the Annual Conference and Expo; attendees can still earn CPEs

Jun 30, 2021

After much consideration and discussion with the Fiscal Officers Department, the League of California Cities is excited to announce a new iteration of the Municipal Finance Institute.

In recognition of the unique demands placed on finance officers, city treasurers, city managers, and other associated staff during December, education typically offered at the Municipal Finance Institute will now be offered at the Annual Conference and Expo in September.

Finance professionals who hold a license as a California certified public accountant (CPA) through the California Board of Accountancy will be eligible to earn Continuing Professional Education credits — or CPE — during the Annual Conference, just as they did previously at the Municipal Finance Institute. A limited number of CPE learning sessions will be noted on the Annual Conference website when available. All conference participants are welcome to attend CPE-earning sessions.

Annual Conference and Expo

Registration remains open for Cal Cities' first in-person event in 18 months! Scheduled for Sept. 22-24 at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, this year's conference saw a record number of registrations within the first 10 days.

After 18 months of virtual learning and connecting, we are eager to see you face-to-face. The programming for this year’s annual conference will feature a variety of exciting presentations on pressing topics for local leaders, plus numerous networking opportunities.

As we all know too well, the pandemic is not over. And, after a year of working from home, people have different comfort levels with in-person events. Our number one priority will continue to be the health and safety of participants. We are working closely with the convention center to ensure that important protocols and cleaning procedures continue, and if necessary, are strengthened. A special webpage outlining these procedures and other important health and safety information for attendees will be available in plenty of time to prepare for the conference.
