Just two days left to submit your volunteer judge application for the 2021 Helen Putnam Award for Excellence

May 5, 2021

The 2021 Helen Putnam Award for Excellence program applications have been submitted and now it is time to determine who the winning cities are for each of the 12 categories.

Each year, Cal Cities invites fellow city officials to volunteer as a judge to review and select the winning programs.

The Helen Putnam Award for Excellence program was designed to recognize, celebrate, and promote the outstanding efforts and innovative solutions made by city governments each year. Award winners are recognized at the Cal Cities’ Annual Conference & Expo, in Western City magazine, a statewide press release, on Cal Cities’ website, and in presentations made to city council meetings.

Cal Cities is recruiting 60 volunteers to serve as judges for 11 of the 12 categories (the League Partners Award for Excellence in City-Business Relations is judged by League Partners). Once selected, judges will receive login credentials for the Helen Putnam web portal to access the award applications and to submit scores.

If you are willing to serve as a Helen Putnam Award for Excellence judge (and get a preview of some great innovations you might use in your city), please fill out a judge application form by Friday, May 7 to Melissa Tualla.

If you know your city has applied under a certain category please do not volunteer for that category.
