State-mandated training opportunity for elected and appointed officials available this week

Is it time to renew your state-mandated AB 1661 training?
The League of California Cities, in conjunction with the Institute for Local Government (ILG), is offering a training for Cal Cities members at $50.
Friday, April 16, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Harassment Prevention Training for Supervisors and Officials (AB 1661 Training)
AB 1661 (Chapter 816, Statutes of 2016) requires local agency officials to receive two hours of sexual harassment prevention training and education within the first six months of taking office and every two years thereafter if the agency provides any type of compensation, salary, or stipend to those officials. This informational and interactive workplace harassment prevention training will teach officials and supervisors how to identify, prevent, and properly respond to workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and abusive conduct in order to avoid personal and agency liability in compliance with AB 1825/2053/1661 and SB 396.

ILG is a State Bar of California minimum continuing legal education (MCLE)-approved provider and certifies this activity meets the standards for MCLE credit by the State Bar of California in the total amount of two hours (general credits).

Attendees must be present at a computer for the full two hours of the webinar, and confirmation of active participation will be determined through a polling mechanism during the webinar. Each attendee must have an individual registration in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participation by dialing in on a phone only is prohibited, and will not qualify for a certificate of completion. Participants must be able to view the webinar on a computer, and participate in polling.
Cal Cities and ILG recommend that city officials consult with their city attorney to confirm this webinar satisfies the requirements of the local agency.
