Planning commissioners, city planning directors, and associated staff are invited to attend four days of educational sessions and opportunities to connect with peers at the virtual 2021 Planning Commissioners Academy taking place March 25, 26, 31, and April 1. 

 
This virtual academy is a must for new and seasoned planning commissioners alike, with sessions ranging from the basic roles and responsibilities to newer emerging issues.
 
What to expect at the Planning Commissioners Academy

Sessions delve into critical training on important topics taught by peers and subject matter experts on topics such as:
  • Planning commission 101: The nuts and bolts of planning
  • Affordable housing
  • CEQA
  • Findings and conditions of approval
  • Conducting an effective and respectful planning meeting
  • Legislative updates important to planning commissioners
  • Relationship between planning commission, city council, and planning staff
  • And more to be announced!

The academy runs 8:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 25; 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday, March 26; 8:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31; and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Thursday, April 1. View the most up-to-date conference schedule.

The conference will take place via Zoom. A computer or laptop is recommended to best experience the sessions. A login and password will be provided to access the conference page the week of the conference and this is where links to all the sessions will be located.
