Welcome to the coalition to Support Local Recovery in our communities!
Thanks in part to the year-long efforts of Support Local Recovery coalition members, the American Rescue Plan Act (H.R. 1319) was signed into law on March 11, 2021. California cities are expected to receive $8 billion dollars in much-needed assistance to help offset the billions of dollars in revenue shortfalls due to the shutdown of local economies and the billions spent protecting public health, delivering essential services, protecting vulnerable populations, and helping small businesses survive during the pandemic. Thank you to all those who advocated for this much-needed relief!

Visit our Guide to Local Recovery resource page for what cities need to know about accessing and spending American Rescue Plan dollars.
Since the beginning of the pandemic
cities have lost $5 billion in revenue, and expect to lose another $1 billion over the next year.
Fiscal gaps still persist for many cities, whose revenue losses and unplanned expenditures far exceed the anticipated relief. And they need our support. Nine out of 10 cities are still experiencing a revenue shortfall due to the pandemic. Seven out of 10 cities anticipate that this shortfall will continue into next year, and three out of four will not, or are unsure if they can, balance their next budget without cutting services and staff.
Together
we must continue to fight for local recovery. Californians depend on it.
Support Local Recovery Campaign Goal 2021

2021-22 State Budget Request for California Cities. The Legislature’s proposed budget deal provides significant resources for cities to address generational crises, but more resources are needed to support recovery from COVID-19 in all cities. City leaders should continue to urge lawmakers to appropriate at least $10 billion to help cities recover from the pandemic, bolster investment towards meaningful solutions to homelessness, improve housing affordability, and advance critical infrastructure.
